Today’s post is a poem I got the name ‘Mamre’ at first, and so had to look it up. Mamre is one of the men that was friends with Abraham and helped him multiple times, as well as the place where Abraham built an altar, by ‘the oaks of Mamre’ (Genesis 14).
The idea for me once I looked up the name and began to write the words became one of how the branches of a tree are meant to work together for the whole of the tree, much as the body of Christ, the Ekklesia, should work together for the purposes of God and His Kingdom.
God has called each one of His children, granted some have had the veil pulled down over their eyes and heart to be able to witness His call, but the veil is being lifted and I believe the body of Christ will come into understanding of how important each member of the body is sooner rather than later. My Hope will rest on Him to fulfill what He already said He has done and is going to do.
But what do oaks have to do with anything? What are your thoughts after you read the poem? Let me know in the comments.
Oaken Mamre Light when allowed to shine Causes darkness to fade, Love when allowed to pulsate true Causes hatred to flee, And yet still tentative We walk lives hidden, unsure Of our identities and roles To play, even though we know~ We know He called us, Called our names to follow Him And portray Him on our sleeves, With our full hearts, minds, All of us. A tantamount Presence Cornered along rhythms Never known before For the vibrations Veiled by a trickster’s lies And we acquiesce even though We know His name deep down For He wrote His name On the pumps of us all, Our cores set to electrical currents We still only speculate about. Hidden parallels await In the solemnity of bells Along the palisades Of differentiated hollows Where words play birds To tunes undecided Without a care to the chair Individuals try to sit~ A chug throughout the countryside, Back into the city or suburbia And we miss the Light In the eyes of ones’ encountered. I mean what if we united And allowed His resonance To arrest us in such entirety Our first to third degree connections, Maybe to the sixth even, Came to realize the Light of Lights And the depths of us, conduits Electrified with grace Throughout every timeline, Forward and backward~ The simple reason He calls? Link with me fellow branches. ~Selah~ ~By: A.J. Wagoner ©️2025
“…to grant to those who mourn in Zion—to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit; that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.” ~Isaiah 61:3
“For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of His glory He may grant you to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ my dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” ~Ephesians 3:14-19
The oak is a tree that throughout history points towards the concept of strength and stability, so being likened to ‘oaks of righteousness’ in Isaiah 61 with being planted by the Lord to give Him glory denotes our ability to stand strong and stable in the face of storms and chaos in our lives, even if we don’t feel it all the time.
It comes even closer into view with the passages in Ephesians 3 above, especially verse 17 with ‘being rooted and grounded in love’, which harkens to other writings of Paul’s about how important love becomes within the context of the Kingdom of God.
So are you an ‘oak of righteousness’ planted by the stream of the Lord to be ‘rooted and grounded in love’? I’m in such a process I feel like and it’s not always comfortable, but it IS worth it. Come and join me, the water is nice.

May the Lord’s face shine upon you and you hear His whisper of your name for He does care about you and love you beyond any words could ever express! Though I will continue to try and express such love for each one of us!
Blessings!
