Do you go with Jesus when you talk about the Lord?
Do you prefer Yeshua?
Does it matter? Do you think the Son of God sits at the right hand with a ‘well Father, they used Jesus, I guess we can’t help them’?
Yeah, it’s a subject I have seen over the last several years on whether Jesus’s name is really Jesus or not. I think the questions fail to capture the Truth of what is going on.
Yes, Yeshua would be the name of Jesus in the original language with ‘Jesus’ being the translation of the Latin version of ‘Yeshua’. So, what is the Lord’s Name?
Both.
I mean do you think He is not going to show up when you use Jesus? I think that would go against who He is in all honesty.
In my experience from doing missions work, going after healing for others, or having others pray over me, I’ve witnessed Jesus show up at the name ‘Jesus’, as well as times He has shown up at the name ‘Yeshua’. Either He was never told the difference between the two names or He flat out doesn’t make a distinction between the two. Maybe He doesn’t care about a distinction between the two names.
One time in early 2013 after work I went to help out at an afterschool program at church. I had severe back pain going on. One of the older ladies I had known for a long time sat me down in a chair and had me put my legs up. The left leg was shorter than the right one, so she began to pray with her hands under my ankles, though not touching them directly and commanded my left leg to grow out at the name of Jesus.
It did. Blew my mind and I had already seen other healings happen when overseas for a year doing missions. Wild to say the least!
In all honesty, though, the depths of the argument feels to me as a distraction from the power of the name of the Son of God. I mean how do you get people to stop using the name of the Lord, but to get them confused and argumentative over what His name is to begin with…at least that seems to be how an enemy of our souls would want to distract us.
So for me whether I use Yeshua or Jesus, I know without a shadow of a doubt He hears me and will come to me to have relationship with Him. He’s not cut up by what name of His we use, though I’m sure Holy Spirit can lead us in the process of which one to use.
Today’s poem explores His name/names.
What Lies Within A Name Jesus… Yeshua… Jesus… What lies within a Name, But the very breath of the Father, The Revival Oasis Of Creation’s Creator To speak a word And Life springs forth Effervescent to the brim To declare utmost Glory On the cusp of infinity~ A parapet ovation Of Horizons risen With the Son’s Light. Jesus… Yeshua… Jesus… What lies within a Name, But the heartbeat of Heaven On the eve of all things For a desperation to awaken Within the depths of mankind To lay pride and greed aside And witness again the Truth~ The Truth of every man, woman, and child Through the lenses of Christ Filled with Grace, Love, Joy To gaze upon the ones He calls, Again and again, over again. ~Selah~ ~By: A.J. What lies within a name? Everything.
And when such a name is the name of the Beloved Son of God, Jesus/Yeshua, then the weight of the world hangs on every syllable, every frequency and vibration within the sequence of pronunciation.
