Happy Father’s Day to all the Dad’s!
Yes, yes, Father’s Day was yesterday by the time this poem posts, BUT I post on Mondays and not Sundays. Haha!
Anyways, from my purview with doing missions and walking with the Lord the way that I have one of the biggest issues I notice day-in and day-out is fatherlessness, even if your father is alive and apart of the picture. The wounds to result can cause havoc throughout the years and to many generations.
I believe it is why God so desires us as His children and He wants to be our Father, our Abba, Daddy. I love the intimacy with the term Abba and have grown with being able to call Him in such an intimate way!
I also am grateful for the man He led to become my Dad and today’s poem goes out to him in honor of him! My sister and I, plus my nieces and nephews and daughter would not be here without him. Quite literally too!
So, who is the best Dad? Mine. The animals agreed at SeaWorld as we took my daughter this morning to experience some fun in the sun! *Granted they could have been looking at me too.* Haha!
**"Dad, is that you?” says the flamingo.
**"Dad, did you bring me some fish?” declares the American Alligator.
**"Hey, have you seen my dad?” says the sea turtle.
Yes, although my dad no longer has to work with being retired, he still goes above and beyond for all of us and I think of the countless years and miles he journeyed with being a truck driver for various companies. As a dad now, I understand a lot more of some of how things transpired in the journey of our family and am even more thankful!
As a thank you, I asked my sister, three nieces, nephew, and daughter for some encouraging words and wrote the poem below. For all of the dads out there though who stayed present and loved large even in the face of struggle and darkness, thank you! Much love and respect to each and every one of you!
Honest Words for Father’s Day (for Dad/Poppy) What does one say about the best Dad? The best Poppy of all? Hard to put into words To be frank, honest, But we try, together To show love and respect For one who spent years Hard at work, to the bone, To deliver goods for so many~ Different sodas to all sorts of foods~ Yes, a man solid in confidence We declare the Truth of his Identity: Thoughtful, Energetic, Whimsical, Playful! Silly and Faithful! Fun and Imaginative! Dependable! Hard Worker! Appreciative! Encourager and Selfless! Hilarious, Wise, and Funny! Oh what a Dad! What a Poppy! Loving and Kind! Forgiving and Caring! Considerate! Trustworthy! Respectful and Giving! The Root of us All In the grand scheme Of our stories To lead the charge into Grace. ~Selah~ ~By: A.J. Happy Father’s Day to my dad and all the dads out there! Some of you went above and beyond each and every day for your kids and for other kids/young adults you met along the way! Thank you! You showed yourself faithful!
May God the Father shine is face upon you and bring grace and love to wash over you and any broken pieces you may carry! He truly adores you and loves you beyond words!
Blessings!
